Family Participation

Families are an integral part of our program. Whether observing or volunteering in class, attending Parent-Teacher Organization meetings or chaperoning on field trips, you are encouraged to become involved with the Preschool.

Parent Communication

Parents are encouraged to observe their child's participation. If you have a hobby, skill, song or family tradition you would like to share, we invite you to do so. Please schedule classroom visits in advance with your child's teacher. All parents visiting the buildings need to sign in at the office before proceeding to the classroom. All volunteers must fill out a Criminal Offense Record Investigation (CORI) form prior to working with students. CORI forms are available through the Pupil Services Office for the Acton Site and at the Blanchard office for the Boxborough Site.  CORI forms are not available online.

Each teacher publishes a weekly newsletter or blog that contains information about curriculum, class events, upcoming field trips, class songs and favorite cooking recipes. Daily or weekly communication notebooks are also used for some children, particularly those with special needs.

PTO

Both Sites have a Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO).  The Acton Site Preschool PTO was formed during the 2001-2002 school year to support all activities of the school.  The Boxborough Site PTO is part of the Blanchard School's PTO.

Get Involved

All parents are encouraged to get involved with the PTO by volunteering some time and talent. It is a great way to get to know other families and become more involved with the school community.

The Acton Site PTO sponsors a variety of fundraisers to support a regular music program led by a certified music therapist.  A variety of community fundraising events are coordinated each year, such as; Touch-a-Truck and Puppet Shows.  To contact the Acton Site PTO to help or to share other ideas, please contact the Acton Site PTO representatives at apspreschoolpto@gmail.comYou can also like us on Facebook at Carol Huebner Preschool.
